Ready, set, code! Registrations open for the Starknet Winter Hackathon ❄️

2024 starts with an incredible opportunity for all blockchain enthusiasts and developers ⚡️

We're proud to introduce the Starknet Winter Hackathon! Centered around Starkware’s innovative Starknet platform, this hackathon is an open invitation to all developers, coders, and innovators to explore and showcase their skills in building projects on the Starknet ecosystem.

There's plenty to explore, so without further ado, here's everything you need to know to join the challenge.

New to Starkware and Starknet?

Starkware is a leading blockchain company that specializes in zk-rollup technology and scaling the Ethereum blockchain. Starknet is Starkware’s powerful validity-rollup network that operates on top of Ethereum, bringing scalability, security, and improved security to the blockchain.

💻 Why join the Starknet Winter Hackathon?

The Starknet Winter Hackathon is a 3-week hackathon organized by Starkware and leading up to ETHDenver, where developers and blockchain enthusiasts will have the opportunity to join workshops, receive mentorship from top experts, and explore Starknet's ecosystem and tools.

This hackathon is organized in collaboration with several Starknet projects such as Pragma, JediSwap, Herodotus, Dojo, Braavos and Argent, who will be sponsoring the various participation tracks.

From wallets, to gaming or DeFi, there’s a track for everyone to showcase their creativity and coding skills!

✍️ Registration and timeline

Everyone is welcomed at Starknet Winter Hackathon 🫶

The hackathon starts on 21st January with the onboarding week and lasts until 17 February when winners will be announced. Even If you're new to web3 and Starknet, you’ll have the opportunity to attend the onboarding week and collaborate with experienced developers to contribute to the hackathon together.

During the onboarding week, participants will have the opportunity to join:

3 Cairo workshops lectured by Laurence Kirk (on Sunday 21st, Tuesday 23rd, and Thursday, 25th), and
The Starknet Basecamp, where you’ll get familiar with Starknet’s tech stack.

As a warmup for the hackathon, participants will have the chance to apply what they learned during the onboarding week and submit an optional onboarding task on Saturday, 27th.

Registrations are already open and you can register by filling out the registration form.

🏆 Prizes

Teams can compete in more than one track, which means hackathon participants will have the chance to win multiple prizes, adding up to a total prize pool from Starkware of $11,000 + $12,000 in bounties granted by the sponsors.

Prizes from StarkWare – Winning teams will be chosen from all tracks:

🥇 1st Place (1 winner): $5,000

🥈 2nd Place (2 winners): $3,000 each

🥉 3rd Place (3 winners): $2,500 each

🏃‍♂️ Elite Runner-Up (4 winners): $500 each

🏎️ Participation tracks

There will be 5 participation tracks, and every track will be preceded by Jamming Sessions to help teams prepare for the challenges.

Each one of the tracks will explore one of Starknet Ecosystem’s projects:

Argent Track – Argent is a browser wallet for Starknet, and your challenge is to create a user-friendly app to enable users to have a seamless and user-friendly experience.
Dojo Track – The track for gaming enthusiasts, where you'll build a game using the Dojo engine to showcase its unique possibilities.
Herodotus Track – In this track, you’ll be challenged to develop a project that utilizes the Herodotus API to enable cross-chain operations (ETH<>Starknet) or historical data access.
JediSwap Track – In this track, you’ll develop tools aiding JediSwap users, encompassing tools for concentrated liquidity providers, optimal route finding for users, incentive design mechanisms for concentrated liquidity positions, and a stacking contract for a univ2-style AMM.
Pragma Track – Pragma is the leading Oracle on StarkNet and your challenge is to build new DeFi primitives leveraging Pragma Data feeds.
